Summary
GeneChip® Mapping Arrays enable scientists to conduct large-scale linkage analysis, association, and copy number studies at a greater throughput and at a lower cost per data point than e.g. microsatellite analysis. These high-density arrays contain thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).
Each SNP on a GeneChip® Mapping Array is interrogated with approximately 40 different probes covering sense and antisense strand as well as flanking sequences, thus enabling GeneChip® Software to make highly accurate, automated genotype calls. This significantly increases resolution and speed of disease gene localization compared to e.g. microsatellite analyses. With GeneChip® Mapping Arrays, researchers are able to perform experiments that previously required weeks or months in a few days
GeneChip® Mapping Arrays can be applied to a broad spectrum of genetic analyses:
- linkage analysis
- association studies
- LOH
- chromosomal copy number analysis
The GeneChip® Human Mapping 10K Array Xba 142 2.0 (GeneChip® Mapping 10K 2.0 Array) enables researchers to genotype more than 10,000 SNPs in a single experiment with one primer.
